Art Museums
Seven of the state's museums have formed a partnership and created the Maine Art Museum Trail .
The Portland Museum of Art is one of the country’s finer smaller museums, with a strong collection of works by impressionist and postimpressionist masters as well as Winslow Homer.
The Farnsworth Art Museum and Wyeth Center in Rockland has a stellar collection of Maine art, as well as frequent special exhibits that draw art lovers from around the country.
Also oustanding:The Colby College Museum of Art in Waterville, the
recently expanded Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Brunswick and the smaller, seasonal Ogunquit Museum of American Art in the South Coast beach town of Ogunquit.
