Maine Guide to Crafts and Culture, available free from the Maine Crafts Association (207-780-1807; www.mainecrafts.org),
15 Walton St., Portland 04104, is a geographic listing of studios, galleries, and museums throughout Maine.

craftsmen.com) also sponsors six large shows each year.
Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (www.haystack-mtn.org) in Deer Isle is a summer school nationally respected in a variety of crafts with 3-week courses mid-June through mid-September. The surrounding area (Blue Hill to Stonington) contains the largest concentration of Maine craftspeople, many of whom invite visitors into their studios.
